When you open a file using Windows Explorer, lets say README.TXT then by default Windows starts Notepad to open this document. This is because .TXT files are registered to be opened with Notepad. But what if you have installed another text editor that you prefer to be used instead (lets say Wordpad) ? Then you would probably have to start this editor and locate the file and open it. Instead you could use Resplendent Assocation Wizard to help you through a step-by-step guide to create a file-association so that once and for all the documents of your choice open with the programs that you want.
